Kindergarten in Wolfartsweier designed like a large cat

In the form of a cat, this unconventional kindergarten located close to Karlsruhe, and more specifically in Wolfartsweier. The cat, which is more than a sphinx on the ground, was designed and opened in 2002 by the French artist Tomi Ungerer and architect d ‘ Ayla Suzan Yöndel.

The kids through the opened “cat mouth” go every morning and during the day have incredibly much fun outside in the courtyard or in the kindergarten itself. There is a spacious game room with large, colorful modules for building and gymnastics and climbing wall. On the back of the building, you will find the Cattail, which actually functions as a slide. A fun and playful way to leave the kindergarten is this afternoon to go home. The two large Windows at the front of the facade serve visually as cat’s eyes and at the same time provide plenty of light for the inhabitants of the Interior. This extraordinary kindergarten is one of the most original in Europe. Hard to believe that the building is not located in Japan, or?
