Modern architecture in the field of health care
All selected buildings have some characteristics in common. Your modern architecture Is subject to well-thought-out, very modern concepts that harmoniously combine aesthetic, civil, urban and social aspects. The competition has four different categories and some subordinate ones. The first category (A) is for projects already realized that cost more than 25 million dollars. Category B is for those who are already built but have a value below 25 million. In the third category (C) projects are awarded, which still have to be approved by the client. In Category D, prices for Innovations in planning and design awarded. In this case, several projects, both built and not yet completed, may be applied.
Harvey Pediatric Clinic in Rogers, Arkansas by Marlon Blackwell Architects
This is the first building in category A, which has been awarded. It is located in a rapidly developed residential area. The building represents an abstract figure. This is in contrast to the surrounding environment. For them, the surplus of materials, which are not particularly strong appearing single forms and the neutral nuances typical.
The metallic panels in cayenne pepper color envelop the entire southern side of the building. This simple intervention makes it quite distinctive and unique – typical of modern architecture.
The patients enter the building via a blue staircase, which is illuminated by wide windows. Approximately 16 examination rooms are arranged around a simple, annular passage.

Bayshore Dental in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin by Johnsen Schmaling Architects
Here we see the ambitious redesign of an abandoned building. It has been transformed into a work of modern architecture. There was a small dentist’s office. The building is characterized by sophisticated architecture. The carefully executed details convey the following: one can easily work effectively in everyday life.
The operating rooms are flooded with light and are also provided with vertical green panels and bright stripes. All these design elements enliven the central corridor of the building. The furniture is mainly made of oak. Their color and the green shading of the panels make up the entire color palette in the clinic. This creates a relaxed atmosphere, which is perfect for sometimes anxious patients.
Ambulatory Surgical Facility in Kyabirwa, Uganda by Kliment Halsband Architects
The modern architecture of Africa was represented and distinguished in the last price category. It is Ambulatory Surgical Facility in Kyabirwa, Uganda by Kliment Halsband Architects. This is an independent outpatient clinic. It also serves as a model that is easy to imitate. It is easier to gain access to medical services. The building consists of three functional elements. The reception was housed in a pavilion and the doctors’ consultation rooms are arranged around the waiting area for the patients. Another pavilion was equipped for pre- and postoperative activities. In a third are two operating rooms and associated rooms. Everything has been placed under a structure of solar panels inspired by the banana trees in the area.
Modern architecture – close to nature, organic and quite individual – so we experience it in these concepts. This is also a reasonable attitude towards the modern design and therefore quite suitable for health care facilities.
