Burj Khalifa, originally known as Burj Dubai, is perched on the ever-growing skyline of Dubai. It has 163 floors and a height of 828 m, making it the tallest building in the world. Originally built of steel and concrete, the building owes its unique look and luxurious design to the architectural firm of Owings, Skidmore and Merrill from Chicago. Its architects have also designed other famous skyscrapers such as Willis Tower (known as Sears Tower, Chicago) and One World Trade Center (New York). The South Korean company Samsung C & T carried out the construction and construction of the building, which was completed in 2010.

The Shanghai Tower, with its 121 floors and an elevation of 632 m, is the second-tallest building in the world. Construction of the Shanghai Tower began in 2006 and lasted eight years before it was completed in March 2014. Here is the world’s highest viewing platform. The total cost of the building was $ 4.2 billion. The tower is located in the financial district of Luijiazui in Shanghai. This imposing structure even towered above the other two world-famous skyscrapers in Shanghai: the Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center. 3. Mecca Royal Clock Tower, Saudi Arabia – 601 m

The Mecca Royal Clock Tower (Mecca Royal Bell Tower) is also known as Abraj Al Baitis. The 601 m high bell tower towered over a generously constructed building group and is the third-highest skyscraper in the world. It is located in the historical city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia and is state-owned. The complex has a hotel with 120 floors and was built by Saudi Binladin Group, the largest construction company in Saudi Arabia. The main building was completed in 2012, then the German architectural firm SL Rasch GmbH designed the hotel tower together with the company Mahmoud.

4. Pingan International Financial Center, China – 599 m height

Pingan International Finance Center is located in the Chinese city of Shenzhen and is ranked fourth in the list of the world’s tallest skyscrapers. Although the 599 m high building was officially built in 2015, the construction is still ongoing. The planned building complex will comprise two skyscrapers. The building has a conference center, a hotel and retail areas in a high-rise shopping center. The building has a total of 115 floors. Originally, an antenna was provided in the draft, although this plan was finally called for concerns about air traffic disruptions.

5. Lotte World Tower, South Korea – 555 m

The Lotte World Tower is located in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. Its construction was completed in March 2016 and the skyscraper immediately gained the fifth place on the list of tallest buildings in the world. With a height of 555 m, Lotte World Tower is the tallest building in the country. For 13 years the design work and the construction preparations lasted, until one began in March 2011 with the actual construction of the skyscraper. The building has 123 floors, six of which are underground. The roof is designed to withstand earthquakes with a magnitude of up to 9 on the Richter scale.
