A remote village, harmony with nature and innovative charisma – such modern architecture should mark pioneering facilities such as an observatory. At least we are left with this impression of a fascinating building with this function, located in Aveiro, Portugal. It certainly has an emblematic character and can serve as inspiration for many modern homes.
Harmony with the environment is very important for modern architecture
Modern architecture in a remote village
The observatory rises above a labyrinth of canals, salt marshes and islets. They all make up the landscape of the lagoon. The building also serves as the entrance for the visitors of the natural park showing the biodiversity of the estuary of the river Vouga.
The windows show modern forms and offer a beautiful view of the surroundings!
Inner structure of the building
Inside, the modern architecture houses a lecture hall, from which a view of the surroundings opens up. These are viewed through large and deep windows, which make the enjoyment of viewing the surrounding landscape particularly intense. One admires the growing plants on the dikes and the smallest movements in the sky. The observatory was created by a former craftsman whose work is also the shipyard in Aveiro. Two local carpenters have completed the wooden parts for the formwork. The metal parts are the work of locks from the navy.
The wooden parts and other elements were made by local artisans
In this modern building we recognize modern, constructive forms of affection for nature and homeland. They look very positive and are in a typical Portuguese style. And as we also see, the modern architecture is wonderful to represent super traditional values. She also manages to integrate them naturally into modern scientific concepts. So such a construction concept is to be regarded as a fascinating vision for the future!
