Follow our simple step by step instructions to make a simple wreath of pussy willow.


Among the first hopeful rays of spring are the sweet fuzzy pussy Willow buds. Go one step further and turn the branches into a long-lasting wreath! It is a simple afternoon project!

Round fresh pussy willow branches from your yard, a farmer’s market, or at your local florist purchased. Select branches which are not very thick, with kitten, showing their silvery coat. Keep the branches away from the water so that the buds open.

What you need:

-48 pussy willow branches about 4 meters long-Wire cutters-26-gauge florist wire6-inch diameter Grapevine wreath base

Step 1: On a work surface cut pussy willow branches in 8 – to 10-inch lengths. Save additional branches from filling in the holes.

Step 2: Collect 6-8 branches in one hand and form a fan-shaped bundle.

Step 3: Attach the bundle with a 5-inch-long paper covered wire. Attach the bundle on the Kranz-base. Twist the wire ends as closely as possible, to keep the branches together.

Step 4: Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the base of the wreath is covered.

Pussy Willow are great garden plants. They offer privacy and provide the first hint of spring. Pussy Willow prefer lots of Sun and moist soil.They are fast-growing plants. They grow vigorously and if you cut one of them down, it will grow again in two to three years. Young shrubs can grow up to 6 metres per year. Older plants grow 2 to 4 metres per year.
