But where is the secret of a successful lighting design for your own four walls? Which are the right lamps and how best to position them? Where do you need a ceiling light and, above all, what kind of a? How can this be combined with other light sources? Questions about questions to which we intend to give the correct answers in the next lines.
Find the right ceiling light for every room
Ever since the traditional light bulb has disappeared from the market and energy saving light bulbs and LEDs are on the rise, choosing the right light source has not been such an easy task. Of course, you can rely on experienced staff and lighting experts to buy your lamps, but it would be very useful if you are in advance in the Realm of light to know something.
For example, a ceiling light is the best basic light for virtually every room in your home. This is the so-called direct lighting, which is responsible for a basic brightness. As a result, premises are illuminated shadow and low-contrast.
Flat ceiling lights with a modern design
In addition to flat ceiling lights, which spread a diffused light, ceiling spotlights for the optimal lighting concept are also highly recommended. In contrast to the first variant, in which the entire room is illuminated evenly, spotlights can be rotated or tilted in a practical way and thus any places in the room are staged – reading corners, works of art or why not a beautiful heirloom.
For ceiling lights as well as other types of lighting dimmable lamps are recommended, as they provide more flexibility and different moods in the ambience. LEDs are high on the list because not only are they dimmable and energy efficient, they emit a soft, soft light. A great advantage of LEDs is the fact that they have no wearing parts like ordinary bulbs and their electronic LED driver is rarely replaced.
Note the style and function of the ceiling light
The matching ceiling light is much more than just a simple light source. It is also an important home accessory, which should be perfectly adapted to the style of furnishing. Retro classics, nostalgic lamps in vintage style or more modern lamps with an industrial touch – the choice is of course completely up to you. Take a look at numerous models of ceiling lamps in stores and on the Internet of course and opt for the perfect ceiling light in every single room of your home.
A bit of technical knowledge complacent?
If you are already familiar with the style and function of your ceiling lights, you should get a bit of technical knowledge before the actual purchase. The three most important terms lumen, Kelvin and color rendering index are actually quite sufficient.
Do you remember the 60 watt lightbulb quite well? Now there are 730 lumens on the packaging of LEDs instead. Lumens stand for the brightness of the light and show which light output a luminaire has. But not only this criterion is important in the choice of the light source, but also the so-called light color and this is namely always in Calvin. One speaks likewise of color temperature. Roughly speaking, white LED light has different tints, ranging from warm white through neutral white to daylight white. If a luminaire has up to 3,300 Kelvin, then it is said that the light is warm white. Up to 5,300 Kelvin the lamp shines in neutral white and with a higher Kelvin number the light is just daylight white.
In principle: Warm white has a relaxing and cozy, neutral white is more stimulating and good when waking up and daylight helps for optimal concentration and performance.
And what about the color rendering index? This is measured in Ra and refers to how well and naturally the colors in the room are illuminated. Optimal index values are between 80 and 100 Ra.
The right mix does it
The good mix has it all, even when it comes to lighting. Do not rely on a lonely ceiling light, but on several combined light sources and create different islands of light in the room. The result is a balanced landscape of light, which provides more comfort and pleasant harmony. Experts advise to combine three different elements in the room lighting: Ceiling lamp (secures the basic light), wall or floor lamps (which are responsible for the zone light) and table lamps or decorative lamps (which provide light accents and extra mood).
In addition, you should put together a balanced combination of direct and indirect lighting. While direct light contributes to a better basic brightness, indirect or reflected light helps to optically enlarge the space and make it more comfortable.
Create your very special ambience with the right combination of light!
To make your lighting at home properly, you should already pay attention to a lot. In addition to style and function, light output, color temperature, and color rendering index also play a significant role in your buying decision. Put on the right ceiling light as a successful basic lighting for any room and combine it with other suitable bulbs such as table and wall lamps or ceiling floodlights and light strips. Just create the perfect light mix and do not forget the rule of thumb: your brightly decorated rooms always need less light than these, which are darker decorated!
