Baking dog biscuits yourself: The basic recipe
In addition to the ingredients listed below, you will need a rolling pin to roll out the dough, a mixer or blender, cookie cutters and Thermomix (optional).
- 200 g of flour – preferably spelled flour, if allergies are present
- 100 g fine oatmeal (or wheat bran)
- 50 ml sunflower oil
- 1 big carrot or banana
- 300 g liver sausage / bacon / or a tin of tuna in its own juice
- 2 eggs (one with shell) – that’s nice for the dog’s coat
- 1 tbsp organic vegetable stock (optional)
- some cheese, cottage cheese or quark – optional, instead of oil
- Herbs of Provence (optional)
Healthy ingredients, fine taste!
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Peel and grate carrot, crush banana. Stir eggs and oil or cottage cheese in a large bowl. Add the oatmeal, liver sausage, vegetable stock and flour and continue to stir with the blender until a uniform batter is formed. Then knead it a bit with your hands. Sprinkle the kitchen worktop or a baking sheet with flour and roll out the dough about 1 cm thick using the rolling pin. Make small balls, cut into small rectangles or cut out small figures with cookie cutters. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes until the dog biscuits turn golden brown. Finished!
